Misonics Pty Ltd (ABN 50 659 454 681) (Misonics, we, us, our) handles personal information in connection with our website, enquiries, quotations, sales, rental, servicing and support. Personal information is information about an identified or reasonably identifiable individual, including a contact person at a business. We handle it in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), whether or not the Act requires us to, and with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
What we collect
Contact and business details: your name, role, organisation, ABN, email address, telephone number and delivery and billing addresses. Transaction records: enquiries, quotations, orders, invoices, payment status, delivery details, rental and service history, warranty claims and correspondence. Application information: what you send us about your parts, contamination, process and site, which may include drawings, photographs and video. Trade-account information: trade references and, with your consent, credit reports; a credit report about an individual (for example a director giving a guarantee) is obtained only with that person's consent and in accordance with the credit reporting provisions of the Privacy Act; our Credit Reporting Policy explains how we handle credit information. Machine data: diagnostic and usage data from machines fitted with remote support, which identifies the machine and site rather than a person.
Website data: our website records technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring links and time on page through the services described under Cookies and analytics. We treat this as personal information where it can reasonably be linked to you.
Payment: card payments are processed by Stripe through our checkout provider Snipcart. Card details are entered directly with Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, the last four digits of the card and the billing name and address; we never see or store full card numbers. Account customers pay by bank transfer to the account on our invoice.
We do not need sensitive information such as health or identity documents for a sales enquiry; please do not send it. Only send information about other people, for example names in drawings or photographs, where you are authorised to do so.
How we collect it
Directly from you when you contact us, submit a website form, request a quotation, place an order, apply for a trade account, rent or buy equipment, or ask for service. From your employer or colleagues when they deal with us on your behalf. From carriers and payment providers involved in your transaction. From remote-support connections to machines we service. From publicly available business sources where we need to contact a business about a genuine business matter. You may make a general enquiry anonymously or under a pseudonym; if you do not give us the information we need to quote, deliver, invoice or support you, we may be unable to do so.
Why we use it
To answer enquiries, assess applications and prepare quotations; to fulfil, deliver, invoice and support orders and rentals; to administer warranties, trials and service; to assess credit for trade accounts; to keep the records the tax, corporations and product-safety laws require; to secure and improve our website and systems; to handle complaints and legal claims; and to send you marketing as described below. We do not sell personal information.
Who we share it with
Service providers who help us run the business, limited to what each needs: our website host (Cloudflare), analytics (Google Analytics), checkout and payment (Snipcart and Stripe), website forms (Formspree), email and documents (Google Workspace), accounting (Xero) and our accountants, freight carriers, equipment manufacturers and service agents where needed to investigate or fix a fault, credit reporting bodies and trade referees for trade-account applications, and our professional advisers. We also disclose information where the law requires or permits it, including to regulators and courts, and in connection with a sale or restructure of the business, subject to confidentiality.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the providers above store or process data outside Australia: Cloudflare, Google, Stripe and Formspree in the United States and their global networks; Snipcart in Canada; Xero in New Zealand and the United States. The overseas manufacturers of equipment we supply may receive fault information when a warranty claim involves their product. We choose providers with recognised security practices and contractual privacy commitments. Where we disclose personal information overseas we take the steps the Australian Privacy Principles require.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used: pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type. It sets first-party cookies (for example _ga) that identify your browser, not you by name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The checkout uses cookies and local storage that are essential to keep your cart and complete your order. We do not run advertising pixels or third-party tracking, and we do not embed third-party video; videos are hosted on our own site. If we add a service that changes this, we will update this policy first.
Links to other websites, including our social media channels, take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Marketing
We send marketing emails only where you have agreed to receive them, or where you are an existing customer or business contact and the message is relevant to what you bought or enquired about, as the Spam Act permits. Every marketing message identifies us and includes an unsubscribe link, which we action within 5 business days. An enquiry or purchase does not sign you up to a newsletter. Unsubscribing does not stop messages about your order, safety notices or service.
Security and retention
We hold information in secured cloud systems with access limited to the people who need it, protected by passwords and, where the provider offers it, two-factor authentication and encryption. We keep transaction records for at least 7 years as tax and company law require, warranty and service records for the life of the equipment we support, and other personal information only as long as we need it, after which we delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the people affected and, where the law requires, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Access, correction and complaints
You may ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting the Privacy Contact at [email protected] or 1300 647 664 (1300 MISONICS), or by post to 4527 G, 470 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC 3004. We may verify your identity first. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for a request. If we refuse access or correction we will tell you why and how to complain.
If you have a privacy complaint, tell us what happened and the outcome you want. We acknowledge complaints within 5 business days and aim to resolve them within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
