Why manual first

Buy the tank, prove the process, automate later

A SonoWash is the starting point for industrial throughput: the same tank, chemistry window and dual-frequency drive as the automated levels, at the lowest capital step. Shops run it until the labour arithmetic from our automation guide says climb — and because the platform is shared, the recipe climbs with them. Nothing is re-proved; only the basket handling changes.

Every size runs the same 25/45 kHz dual-frequency drive and the same chemistry window. What changes between them is how much goes in the basket and how much power sits under it.

Electrical240 V single phase, 50 Hz. Ultrasonics 1,500 W and heating 5,000 W, so maximum draw is about 27 A. It needs its own circuit, not a 10 A power point. Final connection by a licensed electrician.

Every SonoWash is dual frequency. The coarse band does the demolition and the fine band does the finish, in the same bath, on the same load — so a part that needs both does not need two machines.

What the generator actually does

Dual frequency, switched at the panel

Two frequencies on one machine. The coarse band does the demolition, the fine band does the finish — on the same load, in the same bath. A part that needs both does not need two machines.

Automatic sweep

Sweeps the drive across the band so standing waves cannot park a dead spot in the tank. Parts at the back of the basket come out like parts at the front.

Twice peak power

Short bursts above rated power for stubborn soils and semi-aqueous solvents.

Linear power, 10–100%

Stepless, not three steps. Set the cavitation where the part and the chemistry want it and leave it there.

Load self-adaption

The generator reads liquid level, bath temperature and the load in the basket, and holds working frequency and power output as they change.

Industrial LCD control

Working status and every parameter on one screen — time, frequency, sweep, set and actual temperature, power.

Peak modulation

Collapses the bubbles faster. On the standard foil test the breakdown is measurably quicker at the same power.

Stable output

Ultrasonic output holds while the bath heats and the basket moves, rather than drifting with the load.

Conversion efficiency above 95%

The transducers are rated at better than 95% conversion of electrical energy to ultrasonic. More of what you pay for reaches the part.

Extended stations

Circulation, oil separation, bubbling, rinsing, high-pressure spray and drying can be added as extra stations on the same platform.

Both are specified at order and built in — they are not switched later. Everything below is available on every SonoWash size.

Which pair of frequencies

Every machine is dual frequency. What changes is which two bands you get.

Option 2 — filtration

Keeping the bath working

Filtration is what decides how long a bath lasts and how clean the last part looks compared with the first.

  • Circulation loopPump, housing and return, so the bath is filtered while it runs.
  • Bag or cartridgeMicron rating chosen for the soil. Bags for heavy swarf, cartridges for fines.
  • Oil separationWeir skimmer or separator pulls tramp oil off the surface before it re-deposits.
  • Extra stationsBubbling, rinsing, high-pressure spray and hot-air drying, on the same platform.

Also available: SS316 tank and basket, additional baskets, bunded stainless base, loading and unloading platforms, and a matched hot-air dryer.

The four sizes are a starting point, not a catalogue

Custom SonoWashThe Sono series is built to order. If the part does not suit one of the four sizes, the tank is made to the part instead. Same drive, same chemistry window, same control set.
Tank size and depthBuilt around the part and the basket it needs, not the nearest catalogue number.

Chemistry

Approved chemistry

Chemistry rule: these tanks are approved for the declared chemistry at the declared concentration and temperature. Acid chemistry needs an acid-duty specification. Hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid and pickling solutions are not permitted in the tank; acid processes are only possible by indirect cleaning in a chemically inert secondary container, and only with written Misonics approval.

Questions

Before you specify

Why dual frequency rather than one band?
The coarse band does the demolition and the fine band does the finish, in the same bath on the same load. A part that needs both no longer needs two machines. Switch between them, or run one then the other.
What is the difference between tank capacity and working volume?
Tank capacity is the whole tank. Working volume is the level you actually run at, below the rim and below the lid seal. On an SW-85 that is 85 L and 60 L. The model number is a size label, not a volume — both figures are in the specification table.
Do I have to take one of the four sizes?
No. The Sono series is built to order. If the part does not suit one of the four, the tank is made to the part — same drive, same chemistry window, same control set. See the custom section above.
What does automatic sweep do?
It sweeps the drive across the band so standing waves cannot park a dead spot in the tank. Without it, parts in one part of the basket come out cleaner than parts in another.
Can I add filtration later?
A circulation loop and an oil skimmer are options on every size. Specify them at order and the plumbing is built in; retrofitting later is possible but it is a quoted job.
What happens when the volume outgrows manual loading?
The basket handling changes and nothing else. A process proven on a SonoWash transfers untouched to a SonoLift and then to a SonoLine — same tank, same chemistry, same recipe.
